Born in Auckland, Dean studied piano from the age of 8 years old at the Trinity School of Music in London.
At the age of 14, after hearing Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Chile on the radio it was the end of piano and the beginning of guitar. Dean played in bands around Auckland in the early 90's when things where pretty much underground.
He then moved to Tauranga early 2000 and found a great music scene soon to be performing with the Premier Rock covers Band 'Rising Tide'.
Now a crucial element to Hybrid Blues, enjoying creating new and exciting originals.
Mark was born in Auckland and his first serious instrument study was three years of violin when he was a teenager.
When his schoolmates decided to start a band, they didn't need a violin, so he had some drum lessons from the late Neil Dunningham and played in 'The Statsz' at Onehunga High School.
He later played for the 'The Traitors' and Auckland covers band 'Maximum Load' that played at the Anglo-American Bikers‘ Club Annual Memorial Easter Run at Waikino in 1989 and 1990 in front of thousands of "inebriated and appreciative bikers".
Mark also displays his Baritone Vocal talents by also performing with the Mauao Choir, led by Emily Macklow.
Now a valuable Friend/Band Member/Creator of the Hybrid Blues Original Music....and Loving it!
Born in west Auckland, as a young teen Darrel developed a passion for hard rock and blues.
He learned guitar at 14, but calms he quickly lost interest when girls and cars came along. (As you do!!)
At 18, he met an old school mate who asked Darrel to join his Band as they needed a Bass Player, which also included a crash course in metal.
After 3 years he decided to change course get back to Rockin' the Blues, joined the band Spare Parts, which morphed into Driving Force, a very dynamic hard working rock, blues covers band, with influences from Black Sabbath to ZZ Top.
Darrel then moved to the Gold Coast for some years, then back to Tauranga Aotearoa, (New Zealand), where he reunited with his son and joined the Green Room Band. (Soft Covers)
Luck had it Hybrid Blues where looking for a Bass Player and after being introduced to Roy (Founder of HB) literally passing on the street, he soon became a valued member and the Dark Horse of Hybrid Blues.
